Adwest Engineering Ltd has been a leader in the design, manufacture and application of steering gears for over forty years, having first marketed the Varamatic Gear, developed in conjunction with the Bendix Corporation in 1961.

During the mid-sixties, the plant developed one of the first integral power rack and pinion gears jointly for Jaguar and Triumph. With recent developments we have introduced a heavy duty version Pow-a-rak gear for use in light commercial vehicles. This product is now sold under the Pow-a-rak brand name.

Pow-a-rak Steering Gear
AEL developed its Serv-a-rak product during the late sixties in response to a requirement from the then Leyland Bus Group for a heavy-duty power rack and pinion steering system.

More recently AEL was bought from the Dura Group as a private entity to develop and expand its steering systems range and customer base.
